Dude Ranch Trip

Okay, I've finally been able to get these pictures loaded now that Matt's not on the computer. He's been playing some game on the computer with his dad and I can barely get on it at times.

We went to Bandera, Texas last week for a free vacation stay at The Flying L Ranch that we got for donating our car last year. We had to go on a tour of the ranch and sit through a meeting with a salesperson for Timeshares at this resort. Let's just say we won't ever go here again. When I booked the trip, we were under the impression that it was in San Antonio and then later I got the paperwork in the mail of where we were staying and it was at the dude ranch.

We didn't know where Bandera was and so we looked it up on mapquest and it's about an hour away from San Antonio. So our trip was a little bit longer. It took us seven hours to get there from Matt's parents house in Sherman, Tx. Sherman is about thirty miles from Gainsville, Tx. When we finally reached Bandera we had to go up a lot of winding roads. I didn't realize it was so hilly there. They call it Hill Country.

There was nothing on the way to where we were going and hoping that we would at least find a gas station. We finally got to one once we reached the town. This was their main street and there is hardly anything there. They did have a Sonic and a Dairy Queen but that was it for fast food. They did have a few hole in the wall places and it just all looked very run down. We had to go to the next town which was thirty miles away just to find a Wal-Mart.

Right before we reached our destination it started to rain and it rained our entire trip there.
So, the trip pretty much sucked. It would have been a lot better if it hadn't rained because the ranch has most of their activities outdoors.

This is where we stayed. They look like cabiney duplex homes. Our side had one bedroom and I think the other side had two bedrooms. We could hear our neighbors talking through the walls so we tried to be quiet on our side until the last day when Matt started making inappropriate noises.
This is the mini living room. Matt thought we were in the Twilight Zone when we first walked in. It's all country western themed, which we are not really into. The armoire had a little TV in it. It seemed so small compared to our TV.
The couch just felt nasty when we sat on it. Needless to say, we were so ready to come home especially to our own bed.
Here is a video that Matt took of our room the day we were headin' out.
