Well, last night was a fun night. For those of you who don't already know, we were at the Emergency Room at Mercy last night for Matt. He's fine now. He called me at work just before 5 and told me that he had a dizzy spell and for me to come pick him up from work since his truck doesn't have air conditioning. I was on my way to him and he called back and said one of his buddies was going to take him to an Urgent Care that we normally go to. He thought he was dehydrated and had low blood sugar because his muscles started cramping up all over his body. When he got to the Urgent Care they told him based on his symptoms that they needed to go to the ER. I ended up going to pick up Emily at daycare and then stopped by the house to get some snacks for her before we headed to the hospital.
When they arrived at the hospital Matt said his body started to get worse. He started feeling tingly all over and he could barely walk and he couldn't move his fingers to sign in at registration. It was just the strangest thing. The doctors drew blood and ran a few tests on Matt to find out what was going on. They even did an EKG on him to make sure it wasn't anything heart related.
After waiting for the test results, they determined that he was just dehydrated and had low potassium. So they gave him an IV of some solution and released him after a couple of hours. Luckily there was no one in the waiting room when they got to the hospital so we didn't have to wait very long. Matt was discharged around 8. We then went to Wal-Mart and stocked him up with some Gaterade and bananas. We also stopped and got him some dinner since he was starving by then.
Later that night he was back to normal and playing video games online with his dad. Thanks to everyone for all of your thoughts and prayers. Without them it could have been worse.
