Emily at Daycare

Emily's daycare has recently started a monthly newsletter. They've only had three so far, but Emily has been pictured in two of them already. These are really bad pictures because I scanned them off of the paper. The first picture is of Emily and one of the little boys in her class holding hands. It was taken on Valentine's Day and the caption read 'Emily and Devon love each other.'

Everyone at Emily's daycare knows that she loves Elmo. They found this Elmo outfit and put it on her. When I saw this in the newsletter I had to take a double look at it. I didn't realize it was her.

New Shoes!

I found these cute shoes at Toys R Us a few weeks ago. They light up when you walk with them on. I also got Emily a new Elmo hat and gloves for next winter. They were on sale for $2.

Happy Birthday to Me!!

Well, today is my 28th birthday. I can't believe it. I really havn't thought much about this birthday. Usually I would be excited, but this one just means that I'm getting closer to thirty. I have to work until close tonight, so there's nothing really planned for today.

Happy Easter!!

We went to Tulsa this weekend for Easter and stayed with my parents there. Emily looked so cute in her dress and I can't believe that this is the only picture I got of her in it. We went to church this morning and it was a very traumatic experience when we took her down to the nursery. She's used to being a daycare all day, but she was crying and holding on so tight to Matt and wouldn't let go when we went to the nursery. She's not used to being with other people than her teachers. We had to sneak out of the room and heard her crying all the way down the hallway until we got in the sanctuary. I hated leaving her but I knew that she would eventually come around to them. It usually takes her a little bit to get used to everyone.

After church was over we went to my Aunt Traci and Uncle Rob's house. Emily fell asleep in the car on the way there and she just conked out on the floor with her jacket still on. After lunch was over my sister couldn't take it anymore and went to wake her up.

Once she was awake I changed her clothes and put on her hippity-hop shirt from Gymboree and bunny ears.

Traci and Rob have a dog named Maddie. Once Emily was more sociable I tried to get her to come over to the door and look at the dog. Well here is how it went...

...she just loved it when Maddie would come over and see her.

Bathtime with Daddy

Matt gave Emily a bath tonight for the second or third time in a real bathtub. He would give her baths when she was a newborn in the small tub that fits onto the sink, but not in a big tub. This is what he did to Emily's hair when I came in to see what he was writing on the tub with Emily's bath crayons.

NOT... the Easter Bunny!!!

Last Friday, the Easter Bunny came to visit Emily's daycare. When I came to pick her up her teachers were telling me all about Emily's visit. They said she was just waving at him and saying hi, but when it came time to sit on his lap she went berserk. She didn't want to have anything to do with him and kept reaching out for her teachers as you can see in the picture. It's not the best picture but it was free.
When I picked her up today her teacher handed me a Easter bag they all made and it had some crafts they made and plastic eggs filled with candy. Emily had grabbed one of the eggs out of the bag and opened it to find a small box of nerds in it. On the way home she somehow opened the box and was eating the candy. When we got home I noticed that she kept shuddering and making a funny face. I havn't had nerds in a while and I fogot that they are sour when you bite down on them. It was soo funny seeing her make those sour faces. This is one of the crafts they made for the parents. I just love it when we come home with some of the crafts they make.

Mommy's Sunglasses

Last week Emily was waiting for Matt to take her to daycare and found my sunglasses. She likes to put them on her and will even yank them off of me if I'm wearing them while holding her.

Ha, she cracked herself up.

First Time Out At Home

Well, lets just say that Sunday night was not a good night. Emily was good pretty much the whole day. It was nice outside so we went out in the backyard and played for a little bit. Later that night Emily kept playing by the trash can in the kitchen and then accidentally knocked it over. There were some drinks that were still full in the trash and they leaked all over the tile floor and then onto the carpet. She knew she was in trouble and I saw her kind of standing in the corner. So, I told her that she was in time out and that she had to stand in the corner between our front door and the coat closet.

Her teachers at daycare make the kids go to timeout so this wasn't anything new. Well, it was at home. She doesn't really get into trouble at home. Of course, we'll tell her no when she's getting into something that she shouldn't but that's about it.

She did pretty good standing in the corner. She mostly looked pititful standing there. I noticed she kind of started venturing away from the corner and was standing by Matt's speaker leaning up against it. Well, can you guess what happened next? She knocked the speaker over and Matt got so mad and put her in her room. The speakers are fine but he had to redo the wires because they ripped out of the speaker. At least we know that she does somewhat okay with timeout for only being a year and a half old.

Josh and Sam's Birthday

Saturday, we went to Stillwater for Josh and Sam's Elmo birthday party. We had lots of fun. I just had to show off the Elmo cake that Shannon made. She did it all by hand. I would have been too nervous to draw all of that on the cake. It turned out really cute.

After Emily and Sam woke up from their naps they were playing together and chasing each other around the house. Matt took this video of Emily running after Sam. They would start in the living room and run to the hallway. When Emily would find him they would both start squeeling at each other and then run the other way. It was pretty funny. It kept them occupied for a little while until they started getting tired.

This other video was before the other guests came over. Emily was eating a lunchable in the highchair while Sam was throwing one of his birthday cards like a ball. Everytime he would throw it Emily would yell 'Uh-Oh'.

Josh and Shannon also have a cat. Emily's not used to animals since we don't have any. Oh, I forgot, we do have some neighbors cats that venture into our backyard and lounge around on our patio furniture. I'll tell Emily to look at the kitties and she'll point to them and bang on the door to get their attention. But, Josh and Shannon's cat was there in the flesh and Emily went nuts when she saw it. She was trying to chase it and she even got close enough to touch the cat. She was going after the cat yelling 'ki-dee'. She was even crawling up in between other peoples legs like it was nothing. She was cracking me up. Of course, we don't have any videos of that.

Ready for Spring

After having a few nice days of weather we are so ready for springtime. I can't wait for her to wear some of the spring clothes that Selina got her from Gymboree. This is one of the outfits that I bought from there. I ordered these flip flops from Children's Place and they go perfectly with the outfit. They are her first pair of flip flops.

She kept pointing at the windchimes that I hung up on the front porch a few weeks ago. She was also doing some dance moves when I made them chime.

She's ready to help me plant some new flowers once the weather is warmer.

Sesame Street Live

I finally uploaded the pictures from Sesame Street Live. For some reason the Blogger site was having problems uploading several at a time and so I had to upload one picture at a time.

This picture was taken Saturday morning before we left to go to the Cox Convention Center. She was decked out in her Elmo shirt. There was lots of kids there with Elmo shirts on, but Emily's was the cutest. I even got some compliments on it.

Emily looks so little in this picture. She kept going over and pointing to Elmo saying BoBo.

Matt took this picture. They had Elmo dolls there for $25. I thought that was a bit much for a stuffed doll. We'll just stick with Emily's Elmo from Target.

Matt wanted to get something for Emily to show that we went to Sesame Street Live so he got her this flag. She kept swinging it and accidentally hitting people that went by.

After we found our seats Matt wanted to take Emily out in the lobby to let her run around until the show started. We got there pretty early and she was getting restless in the chair. They came back with this Elmo hat that is ten times the size of her head. The people sitting behind us kept laughing because the hat kept falling down on her face.

She would not sit still to even take a picture with me. Oh well.

Matt snuck off to take a picture of the stage. It was really neat. It's hard to tell in the pictures though. They had really cool props and it was very colorful. The lighting was really cool too.

This picture is when the show was starting. The lights went down and the music started to play and then Emily went nutso. She was clapping her hands and saying 'yeah'. She absolutely loved it. There were three ladies with a kid around Emily's age that were sitting in front of us. They kept looking back at Emily and laughing because she was so into it. They couldn't believe how much she liked it because the little boy with them was just sitting there not really doing anything. There were some older kids sitting behind us with their parents and I think Emily was more excited than they were.

Here are a few pictures of the characters in the show. The theme of the show was when Elmo grows up. At one point he wanted to be a cowboy, a weather monster, and some other things that I can't remember.

They had a fifteen minute intermission. There were several people that came out onto the floor and were carrying Elmo balloons. I told Matt he had to go get one for Emily. He came back with one and I couldn't believe that they were $8. Oh well, the look on her face was priceless though.
She was getting a little restless again and then she grabbed my sunglasses off of my face and put them on her. Soon after the show started again. Thank god, because she sat absolutely still for it.

When the show started again it was time for Elmo's World. When the music started playing I thought she would go crazy for it like she does at home. Nope, she sat so still and her eyes were just as wide as could be taking it all in. I just wish I knew was what going on in that little noggin. Elmo's World was just like on her DVDs. They had Dorothy the Goldfish and Mr. Noodle.

Toward the end of the show you could hear all of the kids getting restless. There were even parents leaving with their kids. I could tell that when Elmo's World started that she was getting tired and started to squirm a little bit. She did really good for her first event. Matt and I have been so excited about going to this all week mainly to see how Emily would react to it. All in all, it was a very enjoyable show. I would highly recommend going when it comes back to town.

After the show was over we were all a little tired. Especially Emily.

Here are a few videos. The first one is right before the show started. Emily was really enjoying her first taste of a funnel cake.

This next video is right after the show started. It's not very good because it was dark in there. Plus your not supposed to take any videos, but I snuck this one in.

Oh, my gosh!! Emily was just now standing next to me and she let out a high pitched sound pointing to the pictures on the computer. She was going nuts just looking at the pictures from yesterday.

T'was the Night Before Elmo...

Well, tomorrow morning we will go see Elmo. We've been telling her all week that she will get to see him, but I don't know if she really understands that. Matt wanted to go to Wal-Mart tonight and so we went and I found these cute Elmo pjs. We also finally got a potty chair. I think she thinks its a toy because she kept opening and closing the lid to it. It plays music and it has a little play roll of toilet paper and a little handle to flush.

Emily has been in a silly mood these past few nights. Last night she was cracking us up and laughing at herself. She kept slapping her knee when she was laughing. It was soo funny. The other night I was just playing with her and I made up this thing were I would say 'I love you' and I would point to me then hug myself when I said 'love' and then I would tickle her when I said 'you'. She kept doing it over and over and so that's our thing now. Here is a video of her doing it.

New Chair!!

I went to Target yesterday and they had their new sale ad posted for this week. In it was this cute little pink upholstered kiddie chair. I have been searching and searching for a cute chair that is Emily's size. I had to get it when I saw it plus it was on sale for a good price. Emily just loves it. She is able to climb into it and will just sit there flipping through her books. Matt says she has the best seat in the house because it is centered with the TV.
P.S. She loves her little stroller for her baby. She takes her baby out and puts her back in the stroller. Then she'll just push the baby around the house bumping into everything. I told her she's just like momma because I run into everything when I'm pushing her through the stores when we go shopping.

Big Weekend!!

This weekend Matt's parents came over from Texas. We had lots of fun with them, especially Emily. She made out with lots of new toys and clothes. Saturday morning we went to breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Mark started a tradition, when we go to Cracker Barrel, he buys her some sort of stuffed animals for her to play with while we wait for our food.

Emily was excited about something in this picture. She kept pointing at something saying 'Oohh'.

Pops brought back a big Easter Bunny with a carrot and a couple of other beanie babies.

Pops taught her to scrunch her shoulders and she kept doing it for a while.

We went to Toys R' Us after breakfast. One of the many toys she got was a little stroller for her baby. She loves it. She keeps pushing her baby all around the house.
Here's a video of her pushing Baby Kaci. They also got her these cute little red crocks and she wanted to wear them when we got home. They looked really cute on her.

We also got this new outdoor playset. Emily really likes to slide and she didn't want to stop and come in today. It was so windy and was starting to get a little chilly. She also would not let go of this little book I got at Target for a dollar.

I don't think Matt's parents realized how active Emily is and that she can get around a lot faster than she could when we saw them at Christmas. Mark was chasing Emily around Toys R' Us and almost couldn't keep up with her. It seemed like she was trying to go down every aisle. She is becoming such a big girl and wants to do things herself now.

Thanks again Mark and Selina for coming down and for all the dinners and toys. We love you guys!!!
