Fire Truck

We went to Stillwater on Sunday to see Josh, Shannon, and Sam before they add a new little addition to their family. We went to eat lunch at Hideaway Pizza and across the street is the Stillwater Fire Department. During lunch, Sam was getting a little restless and Shannon's mom took him outside while we all finished our lunch. Usually it's Emily who has a meltdown when we are out with them but she did really good. When we left the restaurant we were looking for Sam and Shannon's mom and then we saw them at the Fire Station. One of the Firemen let Sam sit in the truck and then Emily wanted to touch everything on the truck like Sam was. Needless to say, they both had a meltdown when it was time to go.

Crafty Mom

I would like to think that I get my craftiness from my mom. I had to show off what she did while she watched Emily for us while Matt and I went to dinner and a movie on our anniversary. Earlier in the day, my mom and I went to Babies R' Us with Emily. We had so much fun looking at all of the baby clothes and other items there. My friend Shannon is about to have her second baby boy and we wanted to get her a few items for the new baby. We found the cutest lil' cowboy clothes and what sold us on the outfit was the little cowboy hat that matched. I got the idea for my mom to make her own gift sack. We stopped by Hobby Lobby to get a few materials. She also used some materials that I had left over from other projects that I've made. When Matt and I came home this is what she did:

She made the sack and the card to match the outfit that we found. I was very impressed with it all and just had to show it off. It makes me want to have a little boy now. They also had really cute dinosaur clothes.

Ready for DayCare

Last week, when Matt was getting ready to take Emily to daycare, she grabbed her sunglasses and purse when they were on their way out the door. These sunglasses crack me up.

5 Year Anniversary

I can't believe that Matt and I have been married today for five years. Time sure does fly by. I also can't believe that Emily will be two years old in a few months. I was looking through our pictures and wanted to post a few of my favorites.

Oh, and today marks the day that we have been in our house for a whole year too.

Elmo Game

For the past few days, Emily has been really attached to the computer. After the credits are over on her Elmo videos they always show a website for Sesame Street. So, I went to it and they have a lot of neat interactive games and videos on there for each of the more popular muppets on Sesame Street. There are a few games on their that Emily can do just by pushing different buttons on the keyboard. She really likes playing on the computer. This morning when Matt was getting ready to take Emily to daycare, she climbed up into the computer chair and wanted to play on the computer. Of course that led into a meltdown since they had to go.

One of the games she was playing in the video is an Elmo game. You can hit any key with a letter on it and Elmo will say a word that begins with that letter. If you hit any other key he will just laugh. It's really cute and she can learn more words too. She's starting to say lots of different words if you tell her to say them, but she still isn't talking much by herself. She'll get there on her own time. She's always been the type of person to hit the milestones for babies when she is ready. Oh, she does say 'Rainbow' very quietly if you watch closely.

She knows what all of the body parts are and where they are. Sometimes she'll come up to me and say 'Eye' and poke me right in my eye.

New Hat and Old Sunglasses

We got this new hat at Baby Gap the other day. They were having a sale on pretty much everything in the store. Emily found some of her sunglasses in a basket under her bed and walked around the house with them on.

I had to work late Saturday and when I got home I found a new addition to Emily's stuffed animal collection. Matt got her an Abbey Cadabby doll to go along with Elmo. Emily really loves her too and Abbey is super cute. So, expect to see an Elmo and Abbey Cadabby 2nd birthday party.
Emily was watching a new Elmo video. For the past few days she has been saying 'hi Dorothy' when Elmo tells Dorothy to say hi. She was a little tired when I took this video.

Father's Day Gift

Matt thought he was getting a new edger for the yard. Until this little thing popped out.
She didn't want to stay in the box very much longer.

Elmo Sprinkler

Emily got a new water toy this weekend. She really likes it. She kept trying to spray me with it.

Flower Beds

I've been really bad about maintaining the flower beds in the front yard this season. There was grass growing in one of them and the grass was taller than the bushes that were planted in it. So, Sunday I spent a little over three hours, I waited until about 5 when it was cooler, pulling out the grass and old mulch. I also planted a couple of Hydrangea plants. This one is on the side bed that is along the garage. It's blueish purple right now, but I wonder if it will change to pink with the type of soil we have here.
I also planted another Hydrangea plant that hasn't bloomed yet in the other flower bed. It's right behind the 1617 sign. Thanks Mark and Selina for the new garden tool. It worked really well. Without that tool it probably would have taken me longer.

Happy Father's Day!!

Matt always finds these Star Wars scenes for different holidays at http://www.rebelscum.com/

You'll have to double click on the picture to see it bigger.

Here's a little message from Emily, well kind of:

She tripped over my foot at the end and got a little mad. After that she wouldn't redo it for me. Hope everyone has a good Father's Day!!

Emily's Room

Well, my latest project that I started out of the blue is painting Emily's Room. I had last Thursday off and Emily and I went out to lunch with Matt and then we stopped by Home Depot. I just wanted to look at the colors to see what would go with the decor. I bought the paint and all the supplies and decided that I'm just going to do it.
As soon as I got home, I put Emily down for a nap and started painting her room while she was in her crib. Don't worry, I bought environmentally safe paint that doesn't release any smells. It's safe for babies and pregnant moms too. I'm really glad I got it because it dries so fast. I think I hung everything back on the walls within a few hours.
I'm painting by myself and I am only able to get one wall done at a time. It takes a lot of work to get one wall done with a couple of coats and by then I'm too tired to do the next wall. When I told Matt that I wanted to paint Emily's room he told me to have fun. I'm too much of a perfectionist so I'd rather do it myself anyway.

I wanted to paint her room purple but she already has a lot of purple in the room so I decided to go with a green. I really like it and it seems to make everything pop. Before it just looked so bland with white walls and white furniture and white trim. It felt like we were living in an apartment still.

I tore off little pieces of tape that kept tearing in the wrong direction and I noticed that Emily was taking them and putting them in different places of her room and the walls in the hallway.
She wanted to help so badly and got mad at me when I shut her out of her room.

Here are the two walls that I have finished. Hopefully I'll have the other two done by next week.

Yummy Yogurt

I recently discovered that Yoplait makes a Trix fruity flavored yogurt. It is pretty tastey and Emily loves them. She gets so excited when she sees them in the fridge and she says "Yeah, Thank You" when she wants something. So I let her have one. She uses her spoon pretty good, but everything still gets all over her.

Little Mama

Recently, Emily has been very attached to her little Cabbage Patch Babydoll. She has been carrying her around and pushing her in the little stroller. She has also found a little blanket in her toychest that is the perfect size to wrap her baby up in. She has also been carrying her little purse around. I think she tries to mimick me a lot. We were leaving for daycare one day and I asked her if she was ready to go. The next thing I knew she came out of her room wheeling her baby out with her purse around her shoulders. It was so cute. She went all the way to the laundry room with them and got mad at me because I wouldn't let her take it all with us. She's like a little mama. Here she is trying to open her purse.
This is what was in it. It is her little Elmo music player.
She also got into Matt's Star Wars book and was flipping through it like she was really reading it.
I think she is going to be a girly girl. She likes it when I fix her hair and paint her toenails. Emily will sit really still while I do it. She also mimics me when I put my makeup on. One time I let her have an empty face lotion bottle and she acted like she was putting it on her face. She is so funny.
